A New Kind of Night

Last night Elie spent the whole night in her crib sleeping!  She got up three times to nurse and went right back down to sleep.  She listened and slept to a CD of a thunderstorm that Adam found and burned from the internet.   Adam and I got to spend some time together watching Battlestar Galactica while cuddled on the couch.  Then we had an early bed time too, but we were in bed together at the same time!!!  Huge Woohoo!  And we got to enjoy some brief, but highly valued, conversation before drifting off to slumberland.  It was a great night, appreciated by all, with high hopes for lots of repetition!

Catching up

Last week Uncle Steve came to visit since he was in NC on a business trip.  He got to meet Elie for the first time and we had a wonderful (although brief) visit!

Then it snowed and we went on a wonderful walk around the neighborhood.  It was really nice to be out with Adam and Elie after watching the inauguration. (Adam looks pregnant! - and I do not!!!)

Watching the Inauguration

Tuesday was a special day for us, as it was for so many.  It snowed here in NC (pictures to come) and for us southerners that meant snow day!  Adam was home from work, although he did work from home.  But this did mean that we were together as a family to watch this historic event.  We were overjoyed, elated, and hopeful during the course of the broadcast.  We watched snuggled on our couch, still in our PJs with a fresh blanket of snow out the window.  It was a perfect moment as we cheered and told Eliora about her new president.  And we remain hopeful for the change that will come.

Family Picture Day

This past weekend we finally got around to taking some family photos.  Hope you enjoy!

Growing

Well, Elie is now 7 weeks old and weighs 8 lbs 12 oz.  She has been so busy eating lots and growing right before our eyes!

Aunt Gale and Uncle Peter came over this past weekend to babysit Elie while Adam and I enjoyed a lunch date without the baby.  It was our first time out together just the two of us and it was so much fun!  We had a great lunch and attempted to not talk about Elie, which quickly proved to be a very difficult task.  Aunt Gale plans to spend time with Elie about once a month which is so great.  I'm sure Elie will grow up and have a great bond with her great Aunt!

Now we are planning the Simchat Bat (naming ceremony) for Elie that will take place in February.  We are excited to see our friends and family and have many of them meet Elie for the first time!

Elie got some new toys and here she is showing them off:

It's 2009!

Adam and I are very thankful that Elie is learning the difference between night and day now.  She is up and active most of the day aside from a few naps, and sleeps most of the night except for eating.  Adam is working full days now and we are all adjusting nicely.  The evening is mostly spent entertaining Elie before bed and getting dinner on the table.  But, it's a good life!  Hopefully this weekend we will have time to take more "family" pictures since there are only 3 photos of the three of us.  Here are some favorite pictures from January so far:

And Adam's favorite video

Daddy sure does love it when Elie gets the hiccups!

December flew by

Adam was on paternity leave for almost all of December which was both a lot of fun and a huge help.  Elie didn't know night from day and would keep us up most of the night which is never fun.  Luckily we didn't have to be anywhere and could catch some naps during the day.  Hanukah was especially fun this year since it was Elie's first, although she had no idea of what was going on.  Next year will be even more fun!

Here are some favorite pictures from the month.

A Baby... A Blog

Eliora joined Adam and I on November 24th, 2008 at 2AM.  She is growing so fast and everyday is a new adventure.  Be sure to check back here for updates and photos of the three of us!
